Advancing Seawater Salt Production with Electrodialysis

Under this partnership, YASA ET will provide its proprietary DESALT® electrodialysis (ED) concentration technology, designed to efficiently concentrate seawater to more than 15% salinity. Following electrodialysis concentration, the process integrates thermal evaporation and centrifugal crystallization, enabling the production of high-purity, food-grade edible salt.

This integrated approach offers clear advantages in energy efficiency, process control, and product quality, making it a sustainable alternative to conventional salt production methods.

Technical Training and On-Site Testing

From December 15 to December 20, YASA ET conducted a comprehensive technical training program at Pangasinan State University, combined with a series of on-site tests and experimental trials. These activities validated the technical feasibility of the DESALT electrodialysis system for seawater concentration and further strengthened collaboration between the two parties.

The successful training and testing phase established a solid foundation for long-term cooperation in seawater desalination, salt crystallization, and sustainable resource recovery.

Strategic Partnership in the Philippines

As part of the MoU, Pangasinan State University will serve as YASA ET’s primary academic and technical partner in the Philippines, supporting technology demonstration, research collaboration, and local capacity building. This partnership reflects YASA ET’s commitment to localized innovation, sustainable water treatment, and value-added resource recovery from seawater.

Looking Ahead

Through this collaboration, YASA ET and Pangasinan State University aim to jointly promote advanced electrodialysis desalination, food-grade salt production, and sustainable seawater utilization in Southeast Asia and beyond.
